Speaker's Report: Keeping Up the Pressure for Action on Jobs

        August 17, 2014

I may add comments later as I review this material.

Item From The Above Speaker’s Report - Speaker.gov/JOBS

This one is significant.  The Speaker.gov/JOBS page.

        http://www.speaker.gov/jobs

Because it is such information-format-content-and-meaning, I have archived the web page (2014-08-27) here in PDF for just this type of review: Speaker.gov-JOBS | Speaker.gov.pdf.  But the link above is for actual use.

This page on the date 2014-08-27 is really dynamite.  It lists the 40 or so House-passed jobs bills #StuckInTheSenate and a description — then a direct link to the text of the bill itself, the bill that has passed the House Of Representatives.

I’ve reviewed some of these titles and their descriptions, and they could be interesting.  It’s a really nice format, with the thesis in the opening paragraph and introductory video; then information-content-and-meaning.  These bills are worth study.

Not everybody will agree with them, but my mindset is to study them and to edit or cross out the paragraphs I don’t like, and leave the rest intact; I have no preconception on this right now, except that this is the way to do things. Maybe some bills I’ll want to not put into effect.  But I suspect there’s significant material here.  In fact, I’m certain there’s significant material here.  Also, the types of bills are varied, many topics.  Substantive.

I’m not sure why these couldn’t be debated in the Senate; I’ll look more closely at the bills.

Note that in the thesis video leading off this web page (the Speaker.gov/JOBS web page), Speaker Boehner says, “Let's have a little dose of reality.  More people have given up looking for work than have actually found work.  This has happened for 49 of the last 50 months.”

He says, “Clearly we can do better.”

Boehner also says then, “The president should join us in pushing the Senate for more action.”

[ This video is on the Speaker.gov/JOBS web page as of 2014-08-27, and this is the YouTube link to the video in case they update the page. ]

[ Obama has stated the statistic that for the past about 45 months the monthly jobs gain have been net positive, and for the past 6 months they’ve been 200,000+ per month net jobs.  He cites this.  2014-08-27. ]

[ Note that the (federal) Bureau Of Labor And Statistics provides really fine reports and charts; and that it’s worth study: www.bls.gov. ]
