SOME ETHICS OF BIRTH AND WHAT ACTUALLY IS IT — VARIOUS TAKES

I don’t know if the following may help to put at more liberty the discussion about birth, what it is, and then in that context, ethics about abortion.  In other words, these are questions about, birth, what is it.

These are the types of philosophical questions that are at the same time very palpable and salient.

It may help in society discussion to simply lay them out like this, the philosophical/reality/what is before one type questions and observations.

<begin>

Ethic No. 1

the cycle - baby young person old person baby young person old person

life form

the thing “life” that science cannot detect nor we can agree on actually exists

        - life force

        - life vitality

        - life as biological function

consciousness

the soul

womb baby - the thing has entered part of a regenerative cycle

        - but is this a hard and fast line?

        - the thing is self-sustaining, on some level (with supports); a thing that does self-sustaining activity

womb baby - the thing has entered a stage that is development [1]

        - what does it mean to be in a state and process of development, or to be in development, and what is the basis?

        - the thing is self-sustaining, on some level (with supports); a thing that does self-sustaining activity

Ethic No. 2

the time when the cell structure divides into 7 types cells (forming...)

        head, body

muscle, skeleton, organs, blood stream, nervous system, brain

is this when the thing can be called human?

the time when it begins the process leading to this

anything predececent that is the spark, the ignition

anything predececent to this

if it’s part of or has entered a cycle of regeneration then it’s a life form

        - otherwise it’s a standalone very active cell

Ethic No. 3

it is permissible to abort at any time up until birth.

Ethic No. 4

it is permissible to abort at any time up until the thing has fingernails.

Ethic No. 5

It is impermissible to abort at all.

Ethic No. 6

It is permissible under only certain circumstances that seem unjust to the woman otherwise, but also left to her.

Ethic No. 7

The “thing” (womb baby) has a soul when it is first created (however that is).

Ethic No. 8

There are other dependent questions about how we treat life, and just so.

1.  A friend suggested the word ‘development’ where I had used the term ‘regenerative cycle’.
